Brighton and Hove has the biggest LGBTQ scene of all UK cities, and Brighton Pride is widely regarded as the best Pride event in the UK, and one of the very best in the world. It is firmly planted in my top 10 reasons to visit Brighton.
If you’re thinking of going along next year, then the main Brighton Pride activities take place over a whole weekend, with the Parade along Brighton seafront – one of the absolute highlights, and free to all – on Saturday morning.
The festival in Preston Park – no more than £30 a ticket in 2017, and cheaper if you bought a little in advance – saw acts on the main stage including Jocelyn Brown and Years and Years, plus the iconic Pet Shop Boys as headliners. A plethora of other music and cabaret acts played on a complete shed load of other stages, all against a backdrop of the usual festival fare of a fun fair, quirky street food and funky stalls
And several official Pride parties – and many many more unofficial ones in pubs, flats, and other venues across Brighton – went on throughout the whole weekend.
Meanwhile, also across the whole weekend, the Pride Pleasure Gardens event at Victoria Gardens and the Old Steine hosted a variety of acts including cabaret, bands and DJs.
So here – to give you just a tiny taste of the fabulous, fun-filled, experience – let’s Travel in Pictures to see some of the best of the fantastically vibrant Brighton Pride Parade 2017……..
